Dear Mrs. Euwer,
Thanks for traveling with me to Seattle! I had a great time exploring the city with you and Mrs. Smith-Willis. The pictures on your blog are great! I will have to figure out a way to print them and keep them in my scrapbook.
Have a great week.
Love,
Dr. Artis
P.S.
Thank you 3E for sharing Mrs. Euwer with me for a few days. I know that you missed her and I am sure you are thrilled to have her back.

Good Morning, Lloyd
Dear Lloyd,
I can't believe this is going to be my last day with Mommy!! We have had a very good time together. She misses you and Daddy a lot. We had a GREAT time at the convention, but we are very tired because we have worked very hard. I have "goodies" for everyone in 3E...so I will see you on Monday. I hope you have fun with Jack today.
Hugs,
Mrs. Euwer :-)

Dear Jackson,
Ms. Smith-Willis was very excited when we saw "your" fish at the aquarium. She told me you would know what its name.

Hi, Jamie!!
Hi Jamie,
Do you recognize the picture I posted on the "blog?" Ms. Smith-Willis told me you would. There were a lot of them at the aquarium. I hope you had a good week while I was gone. See you on Monday!!

Second Day of the Conference
Dear 3E,
I had a very busy second day at my conference. We started out with a breakfast meeting. We had a very good speaker and a yummy breakfast. After that we met in affinity groups. That's where I met with all the other Caucasian teachers that were here, while Ms. Smith-Willis met with all the brown teachers. We were talking about ways we can all make our schools a better place to be. I met a lot of teachers from all over the United States.
After those meetings/workshops we had a break. Dr. Artis, Ms. Smith-Willis, and I all got a quick lunch and then we took the monorail to the Space Needle. That's where I took that really cool picture on the side of my "blog." We got up to the top of the Space Needle in 41 seconds. Wow, it was a fast ride!! Once we were at the top we could see the Cascade Mountains to the east, the Olympic Mountains to the west, Elliott Bay, and Puget Sound. It was AWESOME!!! The Space Needle is a giant compass rose, so as we walked around we see the directions we were looking. It was really cool!
We did a lot of walking as well...we went to Pikes Market and the Seattle Aquarium. I took some pictures there because Ms. Smith-Willis told me that they were some of the fish you studied when you were in first grade. We had a very busy day.
Then in the evening we had a very good dinner speaker. I really enjoyed listening to Charles Ogletree. There were also a lot of wonderful performers. We listened to a sophomore sing a solo, the Shumba Maimba Ensemble performed for us, and a choir sang "Dream". All of the performers were wonderful. I would have been very nervous if I had to do that.
On Saturday morning we have more meetings, breakfast, and the students who were here at the convention will also meet with us. They will be conducting the meetings. We will then need to leave for the airport. We fly out at 1:45 P.M. Seattle time...but that is 4:45 P.M. NJ time. My body still isn't used to the time change...I have been up very early each day. We will get home Saturday night at about 10:00 NJ time.
I am very happy that Mr. Corvino sent me to this conference with Ms. Smith-Willis and Dr. Artis!! I will see you all on Monday...have a GREAT weekend.
Hugs,
Mrs. Euwer :-)

Mark, My Lego Building Friend
Dear Mark,
You sure have been busy with your legos...what did you build? Ms. Smith-Willis and I did get to the Space Needle today. You could see Elliot Bay, Puget Sound, and a lot of the city when you got up to the observation deck. It was wonderful. I hope you had a good day with Mrs. Fallon. I miss you all a lot and can hardly wait to see everyone on Monday.
Hugs,

Hello, Cacky...
Dear Cacky,
Ms. Smith Willis and I saw some horses today...and we thought of you. I will post a picture on the "blog" so you can see too!! We have been to a lot of workshops...2 each day and we work hard in them. We have probably heard about 6 different speeches. We heard three today. Two at our breakfast meeting...we had to be there at 7:00 A.M. and then we had a dinner tonight and we heard another 2 speeches. Everyone here is filling my brain with lots of good ideas. I'm glad I came with Ms.Smith-Willis.
I hope it doesn't snow on Monday either...because I have missed all you guys a TON!! We went to the Space Needle and the Aquarium today. You will see somethings that we saw on my "blog"...so keep scrolling down on the pictures. You will also see my room. I love it...it is very cozy and comfortable!! See you on Monday with my goodies!!
Hugs,

Greetings 3M...From Seattle
Dear 3M,
It was so thoughtful of you all to write to me!! I really miss everyone at school. I'm looking forward to seeing everyone on Monday!! We weren't able to visit any schools because they were all closed because of snow. Now...it wasn't a lot of snow, but they aren't used to snow. So, they closed!! When I was traveling to Seattle I passed over the Mississippi River and the Rocky Mountains...I also saw a lot of lakes and other rivers from the air.
The Strait of Juan de Fuca is salt water...it's the body of water that connects the Pacific Ocean to Puget Sound. Ms. Smith-Willis and I have been so busy going to workshops and listening to wonderful speakers that we haven't had time to visit any other cities. This is definitely a part of the country I will visit again.
We have seen a lot of salmon products...because Seattle is famous for salmon. They are also famous for growing cherries, too!! I hope you all have a GREAT weekend, and I will see you on Monday.
Hugs,
Mrs. Euwer :-)

Hi Mrs. Euwer,
First of all, the restaurant that I wanted you all to go to has since closed... such is the fate of the restaurant industry!
Anyway, the children in 3M have some questions for you. Here they are:
- What kind of water is in the Strait of Juan de Fuca? Fresh or saltwater?
- Are there any food delicacies in Seattle?
- Did you see anything interesting from the airplane on your trip out?
- Have you visited any new schools?
- Have you visited any other towns outside of Seattle?
- Are the buildings different in Seattle?
- Tell is all about the big snow storm!
We are thinking about you and Mrs. Smith Willis and hope you are having a jolly good time!
Cheers,
3M

Dear Jamie,
Have you ever been to Seattle to visit your cousins? I'm not too sure I will see them...but I will say the people in Seattle are all so very friendly. It is a beautiful city. Ms. Smith-Willis, Dr. Artis, and I are going to try to walk down to the waterfront today, if we have time. I'm going to try to take a picture of Puget Sound and Lake Washington. I hope you have a GREAT day today. It's supposed to be a bit warmer in Seattle today...is it still warm in NJ? Miss you and see you soon.
Hugs,
Mrs. Euwer :-)

A Busy First Day!!
Dear 3E,
Our first day was a very busy one. I am very tired. We left our hotel about 7:00 this morning and didn't get home until about 9:00 at night.
Our day started out by watching Japanese drum players. They were very good. Then we saw a Native American family do some traditional dancing. After they performed we listened to a Native American Speaker. When the speaker was finished we saw some African dancers. Then we went to our workshop. They were all very good.
After we had lunch, we went to another workshop and meeting. When that was done we all got together again in a big ballroom and we watched an Indian girl, who was in the 11th grade do a traditional dance from India. She was marvelous. After that we watched a group of girls from Cambodia dance. They were dressed in traditional outfits and they were outstanding. We ended with a group of girls doing a hip hop dance/play for us. As you can tell our day was very busy!! We start early again tomorrow.
Now, I have "blogged" you all back...but when you scroll down you need to click on "old posts" to see them. You have all been so wonderful at writing to me that you may need to go to another "post page." I think we have 3 pages of "blogs"...so keep clicking until you find my "blog" to you!! I've written postcards to you all and will mail them tomorrow morning. I hope you get them on Saturday or Monday.
Hugs to you all,
Mrs. Euwer :-)

Seasons
Dear Chase,
I hope you have enjoyed writing about your season...make sure you include a lot of details. When I get back everyone will illustrate their season, too. I'm hoping we can hang them outside our classroom door. I think they will look very nice. We will finish up our cursive lower case letters when I get back. Then we can take our spelling quizzes in cursive!! YIPPEE!! See you on Monday.

Dear Jackson, Bruce, and John,
I am working very hard in Seattle. I'm glad you liked math with Mrs. Irish. How many yards did you measure? Did everyone agree on the measurements? Were yards or meters longer? Ms. Smith-Willis, Dr. Artis, and I are going to go to Pike's Market tomorrow to look around tomorrow...I also want to go to the Space Needle, too. I'll see you on Monday.

Dear Reshmi, Cacky, and Caroline,
Cacky tell Mom we've been so busy going to listen to speakers and going to workshops that I am "Sleepless in Seattle!" The conference is wonderful, and I am having a good time with Ms. Smith-Willis and Dr. Artis. We walk each day from our hotel to the conference center, so we get to see some of the city. It is really a beautiful city. I hope you are all being good for Mrs. Fallon. I miss you...and I will see you on Monday.

Hello, 3B
Dear 3B,
The schools in Seattle had a snow day yesterday and today. It wasn't too much snow, but Seattle doesn't usually get snow at all!! That surprised me. So, because they don't get snow...they didn't know what to do with it!! It was about 26 degrees yesterday, and I was glad I remembered my winter coat. Ms. Smith-Willis and I were at workshops all day, and I did see a lot of teachers from NJ. Kent Place and Morristown Beard both have sent students and teachers here. The students came because there is a student leadership workshop. So, that is why they came with us.
I am really a Giants fan and don't really follow the Seattle Seahawks very much...but maybe I will now because I love this city so much. See you all soon...

Dear Mrs. Euwer,
How is it going in Seattle? Is it raining or is it hot? We did a really fun thing with Mrs. Irish! We got to use trundals and used them for measuring the length from the double doors on the playground, around the playground, and back to the double door! So, are you having a good time in Seattle? How is the conference? Well, I can't wait until you are back in school! See ya!
From,
Bruce

Dear Mrs. Euwer,I hope that you are eating good food. I wish we could taste the mushroom soup that you had. (I'm hungry!) I thought Seattle was in Oregon. Have you seen any horses there? I hope you have. My Mom wants to know if you and Ms. Smith Willis are, "Sleepless in Seattle?" (she's crazy) Thank you for creating this blog for our class. This is fun. I have some good ideas for Sarah Morton. Ok I have to go now it's time for bed. Hope you have a great trip home.Love, Cacky
Mrs. E, can I do my season in cursive?
Dear Mrs. E,
Oops, I already did it. Well, Mrs. F said it looked great. I hope you think it's o.k., too. My dad & I watched a footy-foot-football game held in Seattle; it was snowing!!!(Jingle bells jingle bells jingle all the way!)
Between almost every play, they swept the lines on the field! It was so slippery, they fumbled every few seconds! About the season: I sorta taught myself a few letters in cursive (v, k, z, capital I, T, W, B, N, A, [and my mom taught me capital D.] I hope you aren't mad. Oh, a lot of people used laptops to type their season. Hope you aren't mad at them either. Well, of to homework and callin' my mom!(I'm home alone.) Bye.
?? ??? ?????
My mom? No. Chase? Yes.

Greetings from Seattle!!
Dear 3E,
I am so glad that so many of you have "blogged" me!! Our flight was very long...6 hours!! I was able to watch a movie during the flight. I watched "The Devil Wears Prada," and it was very good. It sure did help to pass the time!! I was tired of sitting by the time we arrived in Seattle. When we got here there was snow on the ground. In fact the schools in Seattle had a snow day. I think it is much warmer in NJ. Are you having fun during recess? I hope you have fun with Mrs. Irish in math tomorrow. I think it will be a lot of fun...I can hardly wait to hear all about it when I get home.
Ms. Smith-Willis and I went to the convention center to register with the three students from the Martinsville campus today. We got a backpack filled with goodies...I'll show you everything when I get back. It's time for me to go to bed...it's only 9:00 here, but my body is telling me it's after midnight. So, I will write more to you all tomorrow...remember to behave for Mrs. Fallon. I miss you all a lot!!
Hugs,
Mrs. Euwer :-)

Hello, Erin
Dear Erin,
It's very cold here...it's even snowing!! They say that Seattle doesn't get too much snow, so this is very hard for them. I don't think we are going to have time to go to the fish market, but it sounds like a lot of fun. Ms. Smith-Willis and I are going to try to get to the Space Needle and maybe even the aquarium. Thank you for finding my mistake...I'm glad we went into the computer lab before I left, so maybe some others will find my mistake, too. I hope everyone is being good and working hard for Mrs. Fallon. See you soon.
Hugs,

Hello Mrs. E!
I hope that you and Mrs. SW have time to keep up with your blogs! You're going to have to bring your laptop to your workshops! Have fun and I can't wait to see your pictures and hear about all of the wonderful people at the conference.

Dear Mrs. Euwer,
I miss you so much. I hope you are having a great time. Are you going to the fish market? My mom says if you go there you get to throw and catch fish. I mean really catch them with your arms. Its too bad you will miss me bringing in my snack. I am going to bring in sugar cookies. I am glad you like the mushroom soup. I saw that in one of your previous letters. I hope you are having a great time. And hello to Mrs. Smith Willis.
Sincerly,
Erin
P.S. My mom is typing this but these are my words.
P.S.S Also, you accidentally wrote on the blue sheet you gave us www. mrseuwerheadswest.blogspot.com instead of www.mrseuwerheadsoutwest.blogspot.com. We kept searching around until we found you, but dont be sad if you don't get alot of mail tonight. I will tell everyone tomorrow.

Dear Lloyd,
Mommy and I just came back from having a snack. We had the best mushroom soup ever!! I'm glad you told me Mommy doesn't like snow...I promise I won't talk about it too much because I don't want her to go crazy!! The older students are wonderful and I'm looking forward to getting to know them. Did you get all your homework done? I will send Dad the link you can use to get onto the website for homework. More later...
Hugs,
Mrs. Euwer

Dear Ursula,
I'm glad to know that you loved Seattle. So far the people are very friendly. I can hardly wait for the conference to begin tomorrow. Tell Mom that everyone we have spoken to hear has told us to go to Pikes Market, so we think we will try to get there one day. Did you go up the Space Needle when you were visiting Seattle? I hope I can do that, too. More later...
Hugs,
Mrs. Euwer :-)

Dear Mrs.Euwer,
I am glad you made it safe. I can't get on to plimoth.org for my homework. Did you cross over the Mississippi River? Did you cross over the Rocky Mountains? I hope the older kids are behaving. How is the snow? Make sure you don't talk about snow to much beacuse my Mommy will go crazy.

Dear 3E,
I'm all packed and ready to fly in the morning!! I have to be at the airport at 6:00 A.M. That is very early, don't you think? I hope I get a window seat so I can see the Appalachian Mountains, the Mississippi River, and the Rocky Mountains. Do you think I will recognize them from the air? I hope so!! I will write again after I land...Ms. Smith-Willis and I have to register for our conference, check in to the hotel, and then we can walk around a bit. I will miss you all, but I know you will be wonderful for Mrs. Fallon. I will write more later.
Hugs to you all,
Mrs. Euwer :-)
